Why Invitation to Christian Discipleship?

Too many Catholics attend non-denominational scripture studies. While this may seem harmless, many are subtly drawn away because they didn’t first learn more about their own faith. As an example, a woman called me wanting to know why her attending a study of the Gospel of John in a non-Catholic setting was a problem. As Fr. O’Bryan teaches, there is no such thing as “non-denominational” unless the participants simply read the scripture and meditate silently. If there is a leader, that becomes the denomination as scriptures are explained in the light of the leaders belief. I asked how they had talked about John 6:54, "He who feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has life eternal, and I will raise him up on the last day." She responded immediately, "Oh my gosh, we only discussed that as being symbolic language." Catholics believe Jesus was speaking literally and for good reason. Fr. O’Bryan explains all of this in great detail in the study of John’s Gospel.

There is no other Bible study available that does such a terrific job of explaining our Catholic faith and tracing it back to the beginning of the Church founded by Jesus Christ. Fr. James O’Bryan, S.T., has provided a study designed for presentation by lay people and useful for personal or group study. This is more than just a study; this truly is a call to discipleship. There is no other Bible study that goes into such depth. While the study is designed for anyone to follow, it is amazing in the scope of information covered. People who start this study generally finish the entire series.

Materials include Teacher Manuals, Student Manuals and Audio (USB Thumbdrives). The audio lectures are taken directly from the Leader's Manual and, for the most part, are original lectures given live by Fr. O’Bryan. These audio lectures are often used in small groups rather than reading the lecture from the Leader’s Manual. They are also excellent for private study. The Student Manuals are workbooks containing daily readings and questions to be shared in small groups or for private meditation. The information in the Student books is a summary of the lectures in the Leader’s Manual. All of this material is covered by the Bishop’s Imprimatur.
